An unfilled contact surface for the assembly

Virgin PTFE provides a low-friction surface without a metal or other functional filler. It is useful where the design prioritizes an unfilled contact layer, electrical isolation or the chemical behavior of base PTFE.

The strip can separate moving metal faces or form a lightly loaded guide segment. Define the actual contact pressure and motion: unfilled PTFE creeps under sustained load and has different wear behavior from bronze filled guide material.

A strip size is not a finished ring diameter

A 10 × 2 mm reference specifies a 10 mm band width and 2 mm radial thickness. The finished circumference depends on the installed working diameter and the designed opening between the cut ends.

Set the end gap for the actual mounting arrangement and temperature range. Cut square, clean ends unless the drawing calls for an angled joint, and remove loose cutting debris before fitting the strip to the groove.

Choose unfilled and filled guides for different priorities

Use the white unfilled strip when its contact and insulation characteristics meet the design. For a heavily side-loaded hydraulic guide or repeated wear duty, compare a suitable filled compound and its bearing arrangement rather than increasing strip thickness alone.

Adhesive attachment and treated bonding surfaces are separate fabrication requirements. A standard coil has a natural PTFE surface; identify any bonding step and mating substrate when requesting an attached guide strip.
