PTFE Coated Fiberglass Fabric

A woven fiberglass carrier with a PTFE release surface, supplied as rolls, strips and cut sheets. Use it where a thin, supported non-stick layer must separate a hot tool from the material being processed.

  • Dense weave for continuous surface coverage
  • 0.08–0.38 mm fabric thickness options
  • Brown, white and black configurations

A release layer with a woven backbone

The glass fabric carries the mechanical load while the PTFE surface reduces adhesion to the workpiece. That construction is useful on sealing jaws, press platens and laminating tools where an unsupported film can stretch or wrinkle.

This is a coated textile, so its cut edge exposes a weave. A solid PTFE sheet has a different structure and serves a different purpose. For gasket blanks or machined parts, choose solid PTFE stock; for a flexible tool covering, choose coated fabric.

Match thickness to heat transfer and handling

Thin fabric fits compact heating elements and follows shallow contours. Heavier fabric adds handling stiffness and is easier to position across a larger press surface, but also changes the thermal path between the heater and the workpiece.

Choose the lightest construction that survives the actual clamping, cleaning and replacement routine. Keep the fabric flat, avoid sharp folds and trim it clear of pinch points so the woven carrier is not damaged during installation.

  • Specify the cut size separately from the roll width.
  • Use unbacked fabric for removable liners and mechanically clamped covers.
  • Choose adhesive-backed tape for a surface that needs to remain fixed to the tool.

Equipment & process duties

Applications

Heat-sealing jaw covers

Separate packaging film from the heated jaw while keeping the cover thin enough for the sealing cycle.

Lamination and pressing

Place a removable release sheet between the press surface and resin, adhesive or coated material.

Industrial release liners

Cut repeatable profiles for fixtures, drying trays and process equipment that needs a supported release surface.

Direct answers

Common Questions

Is PTFE coated fiberglass fabric the same as PTFE sheet?

No. Coated fabric has a woven fiberglass carrier under the PTFE surface. Solid PTFE sheet contains no fabric carrier and is the appropriate starting material for many cut gaskets and machined components.

Which thickness suits a heat-sealing machine?

Select thickness against the heater geometry and sealing cycle. The thinner 0.08–0.18 mm options keep the covering light; heavier fabric provides more handling stiffness for larger tools. Compare the seal with the installed cover before fixing the production setup.

Can this fabric be supplied with adhesive?

Yes. Adhesive-backed fabric is a separate construction in our PTFE fiberglass adhesive tape range. Specify the adhesive duty as well as the fabric thickness so the backing is matched to the mounting surface.
