Airflow and support must work together
An open mesh keeps the airflow path through the carrier instead of forcing all air over the top of the product. That matters in hot-air drying, where the underside also needs exposure to moving air.
A larger aperture opens more space between yarns, but gives small or soft material less support. Select the opening against the smallest item, its shape under heat and the direction of airflow. Mesh pitch alone does not describe open area: yarn size and coating build also affect the usable opening.
